Dec 8, 2017

Mr. Sonam Karma Tshering, Chairman and Mr. Nima Gyeltshen, Director of the Bhutan Anti Doping Committee (BADC) visited the Japan Anti Doping Agency (JADA) from 21st to 22nd November, 2017 as part of the institutional capacity building. The tour was also patronized by the office of the WADA’s Asia/Oceana Regional Office, Tokyo. The study was made to understand JADA’s legal status, policy, institutional structure, governance system and funding. So that, similar or best practices can be borrowed to establish effective full-fledged NADO in Bhutan. Tour also helped to learn how JADA cooperate or collaborate with different stakeholders to ensure compliance to the UNESCO International Convention Against Doping in Sports and the WADA Code. In addition it also gave the opportunity to learn about programs and activities including the Value Education Program which JADA is pioneering and laid the path to seek possibility for future collaboration or exchange program between the JADA and the BADC, including use of JADA’s educational materials by the BADC.
