As part of its enhanced compliance process under the 2015 World Anti-Doping Code (Code), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) formed an independent Compliance Review Committee (CRC), which is tasked with providing independent advice, guidance and recommendations to WADA’s Management and Foundation Board on matters relating to Code compliance.
The CRC makes its independent recommendations based on information received from WADA’s internal Compliance Task Force.
The CRC met on 14 December 2016 in Lausanne, Switzerland and discussed a number of issues relating to the implementation of WADA’s Code compliance monitoring program, which included:
Concerning consequences of non-compliance, the CRC also discussed development of a system of proportionate and graded consequences for non-compliance; the principles of which, were endorsed by WADA’s Foundation Board on 20 November 2016. The CRC will continue its discussions on this matter in the coming months with the aim of making concrete recommendations for implementation to the Board at its next meeting in May 2017.
